Create useful products while enhancing sustainability in the production process  

FrieslandCampina (Thailand) Public Company Limited, the producer and distributor of quality cow’s milk products, including Foremost, Falcon and Debic, took part in the celebration of #WorldFoodDay 2021 by reinforcing the organistion’s mission to deliver food products that were rich in nutrition at accessible prices and strengthening the sustainability of the entire production process to benefit the health of consumers while reducing the impact on the society and the environment.

The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) has designated October 16 every year as World Food Day. According to the latest information on the FAO website (www.fao.org/world-food-day), there are more than 3 billion people or about 40% of the world's population that can't afford nutritious and healthy food, and nearly 2 billion people suffer from being overweight or obesity from poor nutrition and insufficient physical inactivity. It is estimated that global health-related costs could rise above $1.3 trillion by 2030.

Currently, the food production industry employs more than 1 billion people, which is more than any other industry. Therefore, it could create a large impact. Small farmer production accounts for 33% of the world's food production, but they currently face challenges earning livelihoods from poverty, inability to access funding, and sources of knowledge and technology. FrieslandCampina, which is one of the dairy cooperatives with the most farmer members and has been in operation for more than 150 years, as well as being a manufacturer and distributor of quality dairy products of many brands, is well aware of such problems. Therefore, it is determined to operate the business with the goal to pass on good things to society in the forms of quality dairy products that are rich in nutrients at an affordable price for all groups of consumers by focusing on the development of quality products from the production process through the Dairy Development Project (improving the quality of milk), sharing knowledge from the Netherlands and holding training programs for Thai farmers.

Therefore, FrieslandCampina, as an international organisation, pursues such goals in all countries around the world, especially this year in which many countries have been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. For the second year in a row, the organisation continues to move forward in the development of quality cow’s milk products according to sustainability guidelines, which reduces the impact on the environment and improves the quality of life for dairy farmers. FrieslandCampina has reached more than 250,000 dairy farmers in eight major countries across Asia, Africa and Eastern Europe, and has provides over 75,000 local farmers accesses to the market, which would eventually give everyone access to good nutrition through quality products from assorted brands.
